We’d say Matt Barnes lost all his chill, but he never had any to begin with
Matt Barnes has a reputation for being an abrasive, nagging defender, which is more than likely why he’s a starter in the NBA. Last night however, that may have gotten him in trouble with more than just the referees.
Early in the 1st half of Game 2 of the Clippers vs Rockets Conference Semifinals, James Harden–as he does a gazillion times a game–drove to the rack and was fouled by Barnes, who gave him a nice little bump after the play right in front of a referee, drawing technical foul whistles.
Apparently, after that brief incident, a woman shouted out “you suck” from the stands at Barnes, and he responded by saying “suck my d*ck, b*tch.”
Woah.
That’s a pretty brutal thing to say to any woman in range of other ears, but if it was in fact aimed at the mother of James Harden, this year’s MVP runner-up and beloved Houston Rocket, things could get pretty dicey in this series from here on out. Not to mention, the 4th game of this series is on Mother’s Day. Luckily for Barnes, it will be played in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ Sports, Barnes later apologized (after Harden’s older brother confronted him), and admitted that he didn’t know he was speaking to someone’s mother. This is, according to Harden’s mother herself.
What he told me was that he would never want to disrespect anyone’s mother because his mother passed from cancer, and that he was sorry.
